“Hey, look at that!” she said, pointing upwards.
“What?” I said, looking at the birds crossing the sky. “Ducks?”
“Yeah, but look… one side’s shorter,” she said. “Aren’t they supposed to fly in a V?”
“One side’s always shorter,” I said.
“Why?” she asked.
“It’s a checkmark,” I said. “To show they didn’t forget anything.”
