Returner

“In his cocoon, Caterpillar melts into living soup. Then the part that was the eye might become a wing. Leg could now be heart. Caterpillar is gone, and Butterfly remembers nothing.”

“Will that happen after the execution tomorrow, Thomas? I’ll forget everything?”

“No, people have it backwards. You’ve forgotten the Butterfly. Time to change back.”
