An early snow strips the gingkos of their leaves. The autumn cold is good, and October takes the stench from the berries. Perhaps it is only this year that I've seen old women stoop low to collect the fallen leaves, and perhaps it is only this year that I notice their uncanny, fan shaped simplicity.
