Efficiency Versus Reality

I cut across a lawn, outefficiencying the girl ahead. Timing a walk light brought me just five steps behind. She shot me a look and walked faster. So did I.

She took something from her purse. There was a hiss.

I'd nearly finished explaining outefficiencying to the cops when the pepper spray finally stopped hurting.
