The Parting Blow

“It’s over,” he said, sheathing his rapier and turning contemptuously from his opponent.

“Damn it, man... finish it, then!” the defeated man cried.

“I will not do you that courtesy, sir,” the victor replied without turning.

“Why won’t you let me die with honor?”

“How on earth could you die with something you lived without?”

Oh, I figure it's easy to die with some things that one lived without. For example an axe embedded into one's head.
