As soon as Ricky finished entering his PIN, they struck. One guy tackled him, holding him down while the other guy accessed the ATM. No punches were thrown; they knew what they wanted and it wasn't to hurt Ricky.
It was well executed and (relatively) gentle. The only problem: the ATM was out of cash.

I'm sure it was much more jarring and traumatic and violent for Ricky than I'm painting it here. But it makes a much better story this way, so there.
