Over that month, crossing the Vard Mountains, I grew closer to the expedition party than I had ever been with anyone in my life. All day long we hiked and climbed and sweated, eyes peeled for lizardmen. Every evening, we made camp and talked.
The month after we returned, I tried to kill myself twice.
