Have you ever read Howard's End? I remember how Helen described Beethoven's fifth Symphony as alternating scenes of spectacular epic battles and bleak goblin marches.
I can hear the goblins lurking these days. They say there's no such thing as heroism. I hear their footsteps in the shadows and their whispers in the dark spaces.
