It's no one's job to shut the laptops of the recently departed, so when I returned from the funeral there she was on my screen. I double-clicked "Meg0987", but couldn't think of anything to say. I typed, deleted, re-typed and re-deleted bland good-byes and I-miss-yous until someone mercifully logged her off.

I was thinking the same thing about cell phone voicemail greetings. It's weird to see the shadow someone left behind.
Oh, nice way to phrase it. I'll have to use that at some point!
