Multiple Stupidities

Other writers made Seamus Bergstein feel disgusted. Disgusted with them if they weren’t any good, with himself if they were. We befriend, he reflected, those who share the same follies, not talents. His mother socialized with nervous ditzes, his father with men who couldn’t tell a joke or story. And Seamus was a preschool teacher.
